The power of a name...

A few months ago, Jake and I had a conversation that really has helped us,and our family on this journey through our grief process.  We decided we needed to name our angel baby, something we should have done at the hospital...why didn't we name him?   Didn't he deserve a name?  What were we thinking?  Well I can answer that...we weren't.  We didn't know any better.  We were so overwhelmed with emotion we didn't know what to do.  At the time, no one told us we should name him, I mean he didn't get a birth certificate, he didn't get a death certificate, there is no record of his birth, death, life, existence, nothing...NOTHING.  It is as though he never existed.  One of our very good friends a few months later did suggest that we give him a name, and for that I am thankful, she was the very first one to suggest it.  I mean how do you even know what to do in a situation like that, unless you have been in it before, or know personally of someone who has?  When we arrived at the hospital that day, we didn't even know the sex of the baby yet, we hadn't even thought of baby names yet.  So ten months after our sweet angel baby went to heaven, Jake and I decided that our son needed a name...so we sat on our bed, I played with Abby and Jake looked up names, something he had already been thinking of...as I watched him, waiting, trying not to notice the oddness of the situation, the sadness on his face, I realized that in this moment, that there was even the slightest bit of peace.  Something that should have been done in the beginning,  but now that it was being done, was making all the difference in the world. Zachary, which means the Lord remembers, and Noah which means rest, or comfort...perfect...so that was it, we decided on Noah Zachary Boyd.

8th Grade

Well, 8th grade is here, I can't even believe it, I know I say it every year, I will say it next year when he is going into high school, this is just crazy, how does time go by so fast? His teachers made it clear at curriculum night last night, they are the "leaders" of their school, what?!?! He can't be a leader of anything...are you kidding me?!?! That was the same night that they mentioned 8th grade promotion...seriously, the year just started, must we talk about that already? We are only 2 days in people, I can't handle things of this nature so early in the game!! I guess it has to happen, these kids have to grow up, my little baby boy is now a crazed hormonal teenager, who on most days doesn't like me and vise versa, don't get me wrong, I love him, but remember, we are both of the red headed family, need I explain more?!?! Like I tell most people, he gives me more headaches than Abby, who is a toddler, and if what they say is true, that girls are tougher in the teenage years than boys, than God help me, Jake just may have to put me away in about 10 years, because I don't think I will be able to take much worse :) I do love him, he is a sweet kid, and he has a great big heart, and he is the best big brother to Abby, and if I do say so myself, he is the cutest ginger I have ever seen...take a look...this is Shayne David Robinett on his first day of 8th grade.

This is my favorite :)

See what I mean...sweetness :)

Goldwater Lake

On August 4th, we went to Prescott, to Goldwater Lake to celebrate the wedding of John and Christina Kelley (daughter of Jimmy and Kellee Collinsworth, our very dear friends), they had gotten married the day before at the courthouse, then had a very nice reception that Saturday at Goldwater Lake.  It was such a beautiful day, it was great to get out of the scorching heat, the weather was perfect.  Shayne and Abby had a great time, we got to kayak for the first time, which was fun, it took us awhile to convince Shayne to go, actually, it wasn't any of us convincing, it was a girl...that's what did it, all she had to do was ask...go figure, anyway, here are some pictures from the day.

Kellee took Abby :)

She was trying to escape from the life jacket :)

Abby and Jimmy :)

I gave it a try, it was fun :)

Once he went out, he didn't want to come back in :)

Happy Fourth of July!

This year for the fourth, we decided to stay at home, Abby was still recovering from being sick, so we thought it would be best not to do too much.  So since we weren't doing anything "fun" Shayne decided he was going to hang out with his dad, and they would go brave the crowds and go see the fireworks.  So on the 3rd, I decided to get them dressed up and do a mini photo shoot...

Then since this was the first time she had been outside in like a week, she decided she needed to get in some play time...so she was on a mission!

When we got back in the house, Shayne had cereal for dessert, or second dinner, or whatever you want to call it, so when he wasn't looking, she got up in his seat and tried to steal a bite!!

He decided he had enough to share!!

So on the fourth, even though we didn't do anything but lounge around the house, since I had bought her a special outfit, I couldn't let it go to waste!!
It was a beautiful day outside, so we did go out and play for a little bit.

She loves bubbles!

Yay!! I made it down the slide!

This time, she wanted to start from the top!

Here she goes...

She doesn't want to let go!

Thinking about it...

Freaking out...

Haha!
